Building an ADU in Newport Beach.
What’s different about adding an ADU here, and how we plan around it.
Corona del Mar is Newport Beach
Corona del Mar permits through the City of Newport Beach, so the same ADU ordinance and process apply.
Coastal Zone considerations
Much of Newport Beach is in the Coastal Zone, where some ADU projects need coastal review and, in parts of the zone, replacement parking. We confirm your parcel’s status first.
Counter submittals and compact sizes
Newport accepts ADU plans at the permit counter. Detached ADUs are sized by bedroom count (850 sq ft for one bedroom, 1,000 sq ft for two) at 16 ft, so efficient single-story plans fit best.
